Kristi: Tell us a little about yourself!
Jacqueline: My work emerges from my love of nature and all things magical. I was the kid who always had a sketchbook in hand, creating my enchanted forests filled with unicorns, dragons and secret passageways. I’m still that kid at heart and I endeavor to express that in my work.

I am drawn to tropical, equestrian and magical motifs. They are done with a touch of “Wabi Sabi”– creating beauty in things unconventional. I endeavor to create function and beauty while bringing warmth and whimsy into your space. I work with earthenware, stoneware and porcelain clays, I fire in one of my two electric kilns.

All my work is created entirely in my studio from the original design to the finished product.
I am fortunate to live in Florida where great blue herons, egrets, wood storks, and their friends come and visit my backyard and provide inspiration.

Kristi: What inspired you to being creating yarn bowls?
Jacqueline: My mother taught me to crochet as a child. I made ponchos and blankets. She learned from her dear Aunt Vivianne who loved to create doilies. I’ve moved on to other artistic pursuits but mom is still an avid knitter and crocheter. I wanted to create something special for her birthday and the starfish yarn bowl was born., giveaway, yarn bowl, crochet, IslandGirlPottery, RAKJpatterns
Kristi: How did you learn to do this craft?
Jacqueline: I took a tile-making workshop and was hooked. I bought some clay and got started with tile-making and hand building. Slowly, my garage turned into a studio with a slab roller and 3 kilns. My pottery wheel came next. So glad I married an electrician!

Kristi: How do you decide on your designs?
Jacqueline: I am inspired by nature and the islands in which my parents grew up in. I carry my sketchbook with me constantly so if an idea strikes I can jot it down immediately.I also keep it near my night table to record any dreams relating to art., giveaway, yarn bowl, crochet, IslandGirlPottery, RAKJpatterns
Kristi: Do you personally crochet or knit? We are always curious who is in our community!
Jacqueline: I’m moved on to clay but occasionally, I venture back into crochet.

Kristi: What is your favorite piece that you have ever made?
Jacqueline: The sea turtle yarn bowl that I am giving away expresses perfectly who I am as an artist. It reminds me of my favorite place, the Florida keys, giveaway, yarn bowl, crochet, IslandGirlPottery, RAKJpatterns
Kristi: Do you accept custom orders or do you only do ready to ship items?
Jacqueline: I accept custom orders in the summer. Lead time is 4 to 8 weeks.

Kristi: Do you ship outside of USA?
Jacqueline: Yes, I am thrilled to have customers all over the world.
